Why Botanical Rituals?

I’ve been thinking a lot about why I feel so drawn to bringing Botanical Rituals into my Integrative Coaching, community work, and really into the spaces I create beyond that.

For me, it’s because I believe there’s something deeply powerful about slowing down and reconnecting with nature. Plants have a way of inviting us to pause, become present, listen a little more deeply, and reconnect with ourselves in ways

that sometimes words alone can’t.

And honestly, I want to leave a little room for magic in that, too. Not magic in a way that feels disconnected from real life, but what I think of as practical magic — those intentional little practices that help us shift our energy, mark a transition, create meaning, or simply remind us that we have more agency in how we move through our lives.

There’s something magical about choosing a plant with intention. Making a tea while setting an intention for the day. Creating a botanical blend for a particular season of life. Lighting a candle rolled in botanicals, taking a few quiet breaths, writing something down, tending to a plant, or creating a small ritual around letting something go. These things may seem simple, but I think there’s power in giving our attention to them.

To me, the magic isn’t necessarily about believing that a plant is going to magically fix something for us. It’s about creating a relationship with the botanicals and the creation of intentional rituals. It’s about intention, symbolism, cultural folklore, creative rituals, presence, and the way those things can help us connect with

what we already carry within us.

That feels really aligned with how I see Integrative Coaching. I don’t believe we’re meant to separate the mind from the body, our emotions from our environment, or our personal well-being from our connection to the natural world. We’re whole

beings, and I want my work to honor that wholeness.

And I love that botanical rituals can be both grounded and a little enchanted. We can appreciate the practical qualities of a plant while also honoring its story, symbolism, beauty, and the feelings it evokes in us. There can be science and tradition, intention and imagination, earthiness and wonder — all existing together.

There’s also something about bringing these rituals into community that really speaks to me. Plants have always been apart of human connection, storytelling, nourishment, ceremony, and care. I love creating opportunities for people to gather around something tangible and beautiful — to learn, share, create, and simply be together.

Ultimately, I think I’m drawn to this style of supporting others because I want wellness to feel more embodied, more relational, more intentional, and more human.

And just a little more practical magic imbued within our lives too.

Because sometimes practical magic is simply slowing down enough to notice what’s already around us — and choosing to make meaning from it.
